Social dividend bill tabled in Parliament
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
The bill on the distribution of Greece's excess primary surplus in the form of a "social dividend", or 1.4 billion euros in one-off welfare handouts was tabled in Parliament on Tuesday night under a fast-track procedure.
The bill will also be uploaded on the Greek Parliament's web page.
The fast-track procedure involves discussion and processing through committee in Parliament on Wednesday, and discussion and voting in the plenary session on Thursday.
The bill has gathered the wrath of opposition parties and social groups as a meagre band aid of the gaping wounds left by overtaxation on exhausted citizens.
