Tsipras to meet French President on Friday

Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras will be awarded for his courage to keep Greece in the euro, Patrick Wajsman, the founder and director of the quarterly French political affairs magazine Politique Internationale, told the Athens-Macedonian News Agency, on Wednesday.

During his visit to Paris, Tsipras will receive the “Prix du Courage politique” from the magazine and the “Prix de l’ Engagement Europeen” from the Paris Bar Association during two separate events.
Wajsman said that the main reason for the jury’s decision to honor the Greek prime minister this year was the fact that “despite the different orientation that Tsipras’ political family originally had, he found the courage to keep Greece in the euro and Europe, avoiding consequences that would have been disastrous for everyone.”
“He had the courage to make decisions in favour of Greece and Europe, he is a man of convictions and bravery,” he told ANA. “Real leaders are people who are capable of understanding the meaning of history and putting their personal inclinations in second place when needed, as did Alexis Tsipras,” he added.
As part of his visit, Tsipras will also meet with French businesspeople who are interested in investing in Greece.

Tsipras to meet Macron on Friday

Tsipras is scheduled to meet French President Emmanuel Macron for a working breakfast on Friday morning, during his visit to Paris. The prime minister, who arrives in the French capital on Thursday to receive prizes awarded to him by the magazine “Politique International” and the Paris bar association, will then depart for Brussels to attend the European Union’s 5th Eastern Partnership Summit, attended by EU heads of state and government and the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.
During his visit to Paris, Tsipras will also meet with representatives of French businesses.
