UN High Commissioner for Refugees Grandi to visit Greece

United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi will visit Athens and the island of Lesvos on Wednesday and Thursday.
Grandi is going to meet with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and members of the Cabinet.
He will participate in a debate during a common meeting of two parliament commitees as well as mayors that are participating in the programme ESTIA.
A series of meetings with members of diplomatic missions and other UN agencies to Greece are also on the agenda.
During his visit to Lesvos, Grandi will inspect the living conditions of the asylum seekers and the refugees and will discuss the challenges the authorities and the civil society are facing.
Grandi will also visit the organisation METAdrasi, a partner of the UNHCR.
The UN Commissioner will be accompanied by the head of the UN regional office in Europe Pascale Moreau.
