Minister of National Defence Nikos Dendias concluded his two-day visit to London by a brief meeting with the United Kingdom's Deputy Prime Minister Oliver Dowden on Wednesday.
During his visit, Dendias also exchanged views with National Security Advisor Tim Barrow on security issues in Ukraine, the Eastern Mediterranean, the Middle East, and the Red Sea.
On Tuesday, Dendias met with the Labour Party's Shadow Secretary of State for Defence John Healey. They discussed bilateral defense issues both at bilateral level and within the framework of NATO. They also exchanged views on strategies to tackle common emerging challenges and on developments in Ukraine, the Middle East, and the Red Sea.
It should be noted that the National Defence Ministry places special emphasis on Greek-UK relations, both because the UK is an ally and strategic partner in NATO and because of its special role as a country in terms of international security. In this framework, during his meetings Dendias briefed his counterparts on Greece's involvement in the EU's ASPIDES defense operation at the Red Sea.
He also underlined that Greece looks forward to the collaboration between Greek and British defense innovation ecosystems under the "Agenda 2030" framework.
Furthermore, during his visit, Minister Dendias also participated in an event commemorating the March 25th anniversary at the Greek ambassador's residence in London, where he met with Greeks living in London and British citizens with close ties to Greece.
