Arsenal vs Juventus over Manolas
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
Olympiacos center-back Kostas Manolas is an Arsenal transfer target as the Gunners seek to replace Thomas Vermaelen, but Italian side Juventus are also interested.
The central defender, who impressed for Greece at this summer's World Cup, is believed to be valued in the region of £8m by his club.
The Gunners were linked with the Greek earlier in the summer, but according to the Daily Express, the London outfit are now preparing to make a firm bid.
Arsenal are expected to sign a new center-back before the end of the month due to Thomas Vermaelen's departure for Barcelona.
Manolas, 23, joined Olympiacos from AEK Athens in 2012. He was part of Greece’s World Cup squad this summer. He has played 49 times for Olympiacos since he signed for the club on expiry of his contract with AEK Athens in the summer of 2012. The defender was linked with Newcastle in December of last year when he was rated at just £3million.
Everton were keen as long ago as January 2012 when he was with AEK, and he has also been tracked in the past by Spurs, Sunderland and Fulham.
