Attica was put to the test by fire on Sunday (30/6) as the Fire Brigade faced two large fires that broke out a few hours apart in Keratea and Stamata.

Without an active front is the fire that broke out shortly after 4 in the afternoon on Sunday in Stamata, where a 45-year-old suffered a setback, was transported by EKAB ambulance to the Kapandriti Health Center, but unfortunately, despite the efforts of the doctors, he died.

In the early hours of the morning, there is no active front, only small scattered fires, while the fire brigade remains very strong in the area.

Firefighters were on alert during the night for possible flare-ups.

The fire occurred in a forest area in Stamata next to residential areas and in the midst of strong winds, after the enormous efforts of the ground forces and the decisive contribution of the aerial means it no longer has an active front.

During the night, 145 firefighters with 7 foot units and 42 vehicles were working in the area to bring the fire under control.

The Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Vassilis Kikilias, described yesterday the two fire fronts in Keratea and Stamata as "two extremely dangerous fires".

Due to the fire, five 112 messages were issued yesterday and the areas of Amygdaleza, Rodopoli and Galini were evacuated.

In the fire that broke out shortly before 12 noon on Sunday in the area of ​​Plaka Keratea, the forces encountered during the night scattered outbreaks within the burnt areas. 138 firefighters with 8 infantry units and 39 vehicles remained at the scene and operated during the night. A fire also broke out yesterday in Distomo, where 56 firefighters with 15 vehicles and 2 groups of pedestrians tried to extinguish a forest area, in the north-east, at night. No homes were threatened by the fire, and in the early hours of Monday morning it did not show an active front.

The same is true for Ritsona, where the fire yesterday burned down a factory causing a suffocating atmosphere, and at night 42 firefighters, 1 group of infantry department continued to work. At this time, Monday morning, there is no active front.

A fire also broke out on Sunday evening in a wooded area with low vegetation in the Agia Marina area of ​​Zakynthos.

The front of the fire was relatively large, while the area that broke out was inaccessible but no homes were threatened. 14 vehicles of the Zakynthos Fire Service and 30 men responded to the scene, while there is no longer an active front.
